tinyML Talks on December 22, 2020 “Low MIPS & Memory Machine Learning Industrial Vibration Monitoring Solution (AKA Not All AI Applications Are Cat v Dogs on Facebook)” by John Edwards

We held our next tinyML Talks webcast. John Edwards from Sigma Numerix has presented Low MIPS & Memory Machine Learning Industrial Vibration Monitoring Solution (AKA Not All AI Applications Are Cat v Dogs on Facebook) on December 22, 2020.

Forum December 22

This paper presents a low MIPS and Memory combined DSP/Linear Classification Convolutional Neural Network solution:

  • An Artificial Intelligence (AI) based vibration monitoring system that uses machine learning to recognize vibration modes in rotating machines
  • The real-time algorithm implementation on the Arm Cortex® M33 based NXP LPC5500
  • Vibration mode detection performance results

John Edwards is a DSP, AI and Embedded Systems Consultant.
John has worked as a DSP Engineer since the early 1980s in applications such as digital communications, control, automotive, IoT and AI.
Since 1993 John has been a visiting lecturer at the University of Oxford and presents the Digital Signal Processing course as part of the annual Summer Engineering Program for Industry.
He is a member of the IET, IEEE and regular contributor at international DSP conferences.
